چکیده

We review the main sources of LiBeB production and show that a primary mechanism is at work in the early Galaxy involving both ejection and acceleration of He, C and O at moderate energy, which by nuclear interaction with H and He produce light isotopes. The precise measurement of the Be abundance at [Fe/H] = -3.3 and of Li in halo stars find an explanation in this framework. Thus, the preservation of Li in the atmosphere of metal poor stars implied, points toward the fact the Spite plateau reflects the primordial value of Li. Consequently, it can be used as a baryodensitometer.

The Origin of Early Li and the Reionization of the Universe

Observational data on the early galactic abundances of the light elements lithium, beryllium and boron are combined with data related to the reionization of the intergalactic medium (IGM) in a search of processes happening in the early universe. Early massive metal-free stars ( Pop III), largely held responsible for the reionization of the IGM, are proposed to have been also the injectors of th...

Light Element Evolution in the Galactic Halo

Abstract. Using a time-dependent Galactic Cosmic Ray flux proportional to the halo Star Formation Rate and including astration and neutrino-induced nucleosynthesis, we have studied the evolution of lithium, beryllium and boron in the halo. Our results set limits to the production of LiBeB by the neutrino-induced nucleosynthesis in massive stars, in order to reproduce the observed constancy of B...

Galactic Cosmic Rays from Superbubbles and the Abundances of Lithium, Beryllium, and Boron

In this article we study the galactic evolution of the LiBeB elements within the framework of a detailed model of the chemical evolution of the Galaxy that includes galactic cosmic ray nucleosynthesis by particles accelerated in superbubbles. The chemical composition of the superbubble consists of varying proportions of ISM and freshly supernova synthesized material. The observational trends of...

Beryllium bis(diazaborolyl): old neighbors finally shake hands.

The synthesis of a linear beryllium bis(diazaborolyl) compound featuring the first non-cluster bond between boron and beryllium has been achieved through the reaction of Yamashita's lithium diazaborolide and BeCl2. In accord with the established chemistry of beryllium, the bonding is polar covalent in character, as determined by structural and spectroscopic analysis, as well as reactivity studies.

Baryon Loading of Gamma Ray Bursts by Pick-up Neutrons

It is proposed that the baryons in gamma ray burst (GRB) fireballs originate as ”pick-up” neutrons that leak from a surrounding baryon rich wind into the baryon free fireball and convert to protons in a collision avalanche. Reasonable agreement is obtained with existing limits on the GRB baryonic component. The charged decay and collision products of the neutrons become ultrarelativistic immedi...
